You Can’t Pour from an Empty Cup

Facilitator, Take Care of You Too

Because winter calls for warmth—inside and out.

Right now, it’s cold. Bitter wind, early sunsets, and maybe more work than warmth. I don’t know exactly what your days look like—but if you’re anything like most facilitators, they’re full of giving, guiding, and making sure others grow.

But here’s something you might need to hear today: You matter too.

This season, let’s turn some of that care inward. Not someday—now.
Because when you’re running on empty, you can’t show up fully for anyone else.

A Few Gentle Reminders (Just for You)

  • Make yourself a healing tea—ginger, rooibos, or turmeric. Add lemon and honey. Warm your hands, warm your belly.
  • Dress for comfort and care. Soft layers, cozy socks, even indoors. What makes you feel most like yourself?
  • Support your immune system. Maybe it’s not pills—maybe it’s whole food, citrus, seeds, or a spoon of honey.
  • Pause during the day. Even 10 minutes to rest your eyes or breathe deeply matters. I meditate—it’s saved my nervous system.
  • Write something down. A thought. A frustration. A win. I have a gratitude journal. I call it my sanity.
  • Move your body gently. Stretch your arms. Walk down the corridor. A little yoga, maybe? You don’t need to do much—just something.
  • Feed your soul. Music. A podcast. Silence. Something that’s yours and yours alone between sessions.

💛 Because You Deserve It

This isn’t about indulgence. It’s about sustainability.
Educators who practice daily self-care feel more grounded, more connected, and less likely to burn out. And honestly—you’re too important to burn out.

So if no one else has told you today: it’s okay to rest. It’s okay to prioritize yourself. In fact, it’s necessary.

Just for Today…

Make that tea.
Wrap up warm.
Close your eyes for a moment and breathe.
You matter. Not just for what you do—for who you are.
